Folks sometimes have sticker shock when they see the cost of a high pressure ( 1000 psi ) misting system. They wonder " Why should I pay $1500.00 or more when I can get a mid pressure system for much less than $1000.00. I cannot tell you how many times I have heard customers tell me that they started out with a mid or low pressure system only to end up purchasing a high pressure system. I myself fell into this category when I started my quest for a misting system.
Mid pressure systems are typically in the 250-300 psi range. If you are looking to get cooled off by having the mist droplets hit your skin and evaporate ( like when you sweat), then these systems actually will cool you down. However the complaint we hear time after time is " everything gets wet with my misters"
The goal is to achieve temperature reduction without getting people or furniture wet. High pressure systems can achieve this by atomizing the water into such fine particles, that their evaporation cools the surrounding air. Commonly known as evaporative cooling, it is this evaporation process that creates the cooling. The physics of this process are quite fascinating but not important for our discussion. With low or mid pressure systems, the water droplets are much larger and therefor are not able to evaporate in time before getting you and your patio wet.
We at Smart Mist USA have decided not to offer mid pressure systems. While they do offer some relief, and are considerably less expensive than high pressure systems, they cannot compare to the dry cooling offered by high pressure systems.
