The most common question we get is " What size nozzle should I use ?"
The goal is to achieve the evaporative cooling effect without getting people or furniture wet. There are three primary factors which will determine the Nozzle size:
1. Temperature
2. Humidity
3. Patio height
It is important to note that each patio has additional variables that can affect the evaporation including: wind, flow through air, and shade, in addition to the above factors. The following is a general guide to nozzle selection.
.004" ( .10mm)
These are the smallest nozzles available. They create a super fine mist that will evaporate quickly in most conditions. Applications for this very small nozzle would be climates with very high humidity ( over 60% ) and patio height of around 8' ( i.e. Florida )
.006" ( .15mm )
These nozzles are can be used in the following applications
- Relatively dry climates with low patio height around 7- 8' and temperatures in the low 100's ( i.e. California )
- Moderately humid climates with temperatures in the low to mid 100's and patio height 8'-9' ( i.e. parts of Texas )
.008" ( .20mm)
Use these nozzles in the following applications:
- Very Dry climates with temperatures in the low to high 100's and patio height around 8' ( i.e. Arizona )
- Relatively dry climates with temperatures in the low to mid 100's and patio height around 8'-9' (i.e California )
.012" (.30mm )
Use these nozzles in the following applications:
- Extremely dry climates with temperatures in the high 100's and patio height around 9'-10' ( i.e. Arizona )
If you have chosen one of our app controlled pumps, you have the additional benefit of using the interval spraying feature to regulate the mist. Please read the article " The Magic Of Interval Spraying "
